Cool Picture of the Day

Here's a cool picture taken on the pier that has the Ruby's at the end of it (name of said pier has slipped my mind for now). The picture was actually an accident, but we all decided it totally looks like an album cover for some up and coming band. Jeremy, being the focal point of the picture, is apparently the leader of this new band.

Well, it comes out kind of dark here, but trust me, it's a neat picture....

Tonight I feel... inspired.

I think I shall write the next great American novel....

A Post for the College Student in all of us...

Naps are good.

Coming home from an eight hour day at work and taking a quick nap is very good.

However, falling asleep at seven and sleeping straight through until midnight, and then waking up wired on a Friday night, is not a good thing at all.

And so here I sit, having wasted an entire Friday night, trying to lull myself back to sleep via good movie, milk, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.

Who knows when I'll be getting up tomorrow morning. But at least I'll be well-rested!

In recent news....

Another year, another semester. I'm kind of weird, but I actually like the first day of school. Everyone's back from vacation, the cafeteria's open, the bookstore is jam packed, and it's just all so wonderful.

Don't worry, I'll get over it by Friday.

As first days go, this one wasn't bad, though a little stressful in the beginning. The class I thought was on Wednesdays turned out to be on Mondays at 12:30, and I conveniently discovered this at about 12:28. But that class ended up being cancelled, so I got my free afternoon that I had anticipated-- after I stressed out trying to get to my class on time.

Half.com is my new favorite webite. Forget the SDCC bookstore and it's hiked up prices... I'm going with skeeterboy38 from Wisconsin to get me my book on persuasion theory. Speaking of half.com, I sold my first book last week-- my geography workbook from freshman year, conveniently retailed at about $31.99. Thank you, Andrew Ornee from Zeeland, Michigan-- I had you in mind that semester as I took careful pains not to mark in that book.

Well, all's quiet here in good ol' Apartment 11. Sonia's in her room doing homework. I'm in my room not doing anything terribly productive. And who knows where Mandy is. Ahhh... the last peaceful day before all hell breaks loose for that little thing we all know and love....

Small town reflections

I am reminded just how 'hick' Lakeside is as I sit here at Jesse's computer as he and Justin are leaning out his bedroom window shooting at the neighbor's water pipe.... They remind me of the Dukes of Hazzard....

Morning devos

Last night as I lamented to my roommates the burden of reading through Leviticus in my Chronoligical Bible, and pondering whether God would disapprove of, you know, skimming the section, rather than reading it thoroughly, Sonia suggested I drudge up a commentary to aid in the understanding of the random regulations and tiresome toils that the book is known for.

This morning, I took her up on her idea. As I did my devotions, I cross referenced with the Commentary Critical and Explanatory on the Whole Bible, and it is my NEW BEST FRIEND.

It all makes sense now... dietary restrictions, uncleanliness, the whole shebang. All this time, I thought all those rules probably had some purpose, but I wasn't really sure how it all fit into the plan of salvation or even the plan for the Israelites, other than to just... make them obey.

I am now a happy camper.

A little something from Jig...

As I sit here writing this, Jig is leaning over my computer whispering, "Write 'Jig is hot.'"

Merry Christmas

Here's a picture from our annual Christmas party. We're still working on getting the Justins to look normal in pictures....
Anyway, our Christmas Mexican fiesta went well again this year. Jesse taught me how to grill carne asada. We watched Miss Congeniality with Justin's mom while we ate. Our Secret Santa worked out so that everyone had picked the person who had picked them. Therefore, Jessica and I exchanged gifts with each other, as did Justin #1 and Jesse, Justin #2 and Gwen, and Michael and Lizzie. I got $20 with a note that said it must be spent at the scrapbooking store, or else. I went there today and it is the most amazing store on earth.
Happy New Year everyone!!!!
