Rabbit, rabbit

On the first of every month my brother and sister and I make sure that the first words out of our mouths are "Rabbit Rabbit." No one knows why or when this started-- I think it was something we saw on TV. Anyway, saying this phrase before saying anything else will bring you good luck for the rest of the month- it's been proven.

So we all have an unspoken agreement. Whoever wakes up first and remembers, says it to themself, then goes to another sibling, covers their mouth so they can't say anything else, and as they wake up, tells them "Quick! Say rabbit, rabbit!" Normally, this kind of awakening would get a scathing look, and the look does always appear... until the one being woken up realizes it is for their own good they are getting such a rude awakening. This is such an important ritual that my sister will actually ask me to to wake her up early during her spring vacation so she doesn't miss it.

This morning I threw back the covers on my sister's bed with glee and clamped my hand over her mouth until she mumbled, "rabbit, rabbit."

I am such an awesome big sister.
